Pre + Post Care Instructions

(Additional customized instructions will be given to you by your provider.) For all injectable treatments, it is preferred that patients do not come to their appointment with make-up off.

TOX

PRE - To avoid bruising with Dysport, Jeuveau and fillers, a week before your injection appointment, we recommend stop taking: aspirin, ibuprofen, Excedrin, Motrin, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, flax oil, cod liver oil, fish oil, vitamin A, vitamin E and other essential fatty acids. Also, avoid drinking alcohol a few days before your treatment. Do not stop prescriptions from your doctor.

 

POST - Injections in the skin can cause swelling, bruising or redness for up to 2 weeks. Avoid touching or rubbing treated area or laying flat or leaning forward for 6 hours. Other activities to avoid for 4-6 hours: exercise, wearing hats, washing hair, facials or massages. Treatment area may feel tight or cause headache, this will settle. Results typically start within 2-4 davs. You'll see maximum results in 2 weeks. Some may need a touch up after 2 weeks. Effects typically last 3-4 months but can vary with lifestyle such as sun exposure, exercise, having a higher metabolism, alcohol and smoking.

When used as directed, Arnica may help prevent bruising and swelling.

FILLERS

PRE - to avoid bruising with fillers, a week before your injection appointment, we recommend stop taking: aspirin, ibuprofen, Excedrin, Motrin, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, flax oil, cod liver oil, fish oil, vitamin A, vitamin E and other essential fatty acids. Also, avoid drinking alcohol a few days before your treatment. Do not stop prescriptions from your doctor. If prone to cold sores take medication as prescribed. NO DENTAL work 2 weeks PRIOR and 2 weeks AFTER filler appointment to prevent bacterial spread to injection site.

 

POST - You may have swelling, bruising or redness for up to 2 weeks. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours, this may cause additional bruising. Tylenol for discomfort but wait until bruising resolves for aspirin or ibuprofen. Arnica gel or bruise gel may help. Keep head elevated while sleeping to help decrease swelling. Avoid touching, rubbing, massage or applying products for 12 hours. After that light makeup can be applied and areas can be gently washed as normal.

Avoid exposure to extreme heat such as sun, sauna and hot tubs for 24 hours. Avoid exercise for 48 hours after procedure as this may cause migration of filler. No dental procedures or cleaning for 2 weeks to avoid oral bacteria contamination.

**Notify us immediately if you have excessive pain, swelling, blotchy bluish or dark red dislocation in any area, severe bruising or if any crust, scab or rash develops.**
